These Baskets are made from Basket Reed, (the core of Rattan),
and Raffia, (which is a Palm Leaf).
The Basket Reed is used for the base material, and
the Raffia is the weaving material.
The Raffia is split down to the desired size, twisted, and
dampened with water, and then woven using a fine needle,
into intricate patterns, around the Basket Reed.

throughout the weaving. This "Double Friendship Plate Basket" took over a year to weave, and it
measures 9" in diameter. This Basket was part of my personal collection to share with school children,
